DUBLINER -THE LUKE KELLY STORY

On 30 January 1984, Ireland mourned the untimely death of Luke Kelly, one of the country’s greatest folk singers. His unmistakable voice and powerful performances left an enduring legacy, and his music remains an important part of Ireland’s cultural heritage.

The Legend of Luke Kelly celebrates that extraordinary legacy in a two-hour show created and performed by renowned Dublin singer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Kavanagh. Featuring a multi-vision backdrop throughout, the show takes audiences on a journey through Luke’s music, capturing the atmosphere, passion and spirit that made him so special.

Chris has earned widespread acclaim for the authenticity and respect with which he performs Luke’s songs. The show regularly sells out prestigious venues including Cork Opera House, Grand Opera House Belfast and Dublin’s Vicar Street, where President Michael D. Higgins and Sabina Higgins have been among those in attendance.

In 2011, Chris was invited by John Sheahan to perform with The Dubliners on their German tour and later appeared on their 50th Anniversary DVD. Members of Luke Kelly’s family also continue to attend Chris’s Dublin performances.

More than four decades after Luke’s passing, this acclaimed show keeps his remarkable music and memory alive for audiences both at home and abroad.
